SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder FAQs

What type of pet food can be used in the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder?
Wet and dry food can be used in the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder. The product is supplied with 1 x grey food bowl and 1 x grey split bowl which allows you to serve both wet and dry food at the same time whilst keeping it separate. Additional bowls can be purchased separately in green, pink or blue. You can also purchase the SureFeed Slow Bowl which helps to slow down feeding, to support better digestion at mealtimes.
Do I need a SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder for each of my cats or small dogs?
The number of SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeders that you require will depend on your cats’ or dogs’ feeding habits. For example, if your cats all steal each other’s food, then we recommend you have one Microchip Pet Feeder per cat. If there is only one food stealer, then all the other cats will need one and the food thief probably won’t. If you have a pet on prescription diet, you may want to provide each pet with their own feeder as only then you can be sure that the pet on the special diet exclusively eats their own food. Also, if you have one pet who graze feeds throughout the day and another who eats all their food at once, then you might only need a feeder for the grazer.
My cat is not microchipped, can they still use the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder?
We recommend that you use the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder with a pet’s existing microchip, however, if your cat is not microchipped, the feeder can be used with a SureFlap RFID Collar Tag. If you only have one pet, then the SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl might be more suited to your needs as this product is motion-activated and does not require a microchip or collar tag to operate it. One SureFlap RFID Collar Tag is supplied with the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder and additional collar tags can be purchased separately. If using a collar, always use a breakaway collar, to prevent choking or injury.
Can a dog use the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder?
This microchip-activated cat feeder has been designed primarily for cats, but small and medium sized dogs can use it successfully.
How many microchip numbers can the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder store?
The SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder can store up to 32 individual microchip or collar tag numbers, which is ideal for large multi-pet households, but we always advise that you only have one pet per feeder to ensure true food security.
How long will the batteries last?
The SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder requires 4 x C Cell (LR14) batteries to operate. Typical battery life with recommended batteries is over 6 months, and in many cases can be up to 12 months with normal use. The LED on the product will flash red every 4-5 seconds when the batteries need changing. The LED will flash for several days/weeks before the batteries run down completely, but depending on frequency of use by the cat, we advise that you change the batteries as soon as the red LED flashes. When batteries are completely depleted, the lid will open and remain open – this will leave the food open to other pets in your household.
